This is my last post. :( But, I have learned a lot about Disney's unique architecture during this project. :) I am now in the process of adding more information to my pages, as well as editing all of the information I already have posted.
I am looking forward to my trip to Disney this September, knowing that I will be able to look at the buildings knowing the magic that they were created with.
This has been a fun journey!

progress!
This week, I've made TONS of progress. I finally got my Disney architecture book from the library, and I have started to dig in! Also, I posted my designs for a new castle. Check it out on the 'My Designs' page.

slow week
I don't have a lot to say this week. I am still waiting on the book Building a Dream: The Art of Disney Architecture to come in from the library, and I am working on some of my designs, which I plan to post as my final project. I am hoping to have the book for next weeks post!

new book & more research
This week, I was online and stumbled upon a book that would be really helpful for my project. I looked for it at the Lawrence Public Library, as well as South's own library, but I couldn't find it :(
So....I went online, and applied for an inter-library loan on the Lawrence Public Library website. I should get it in the next week or so :)
Also this week, I decided to research some of Disney's Imagineers. They are not all necessarily architects, but it they still helped to plan and build Disney how it is today. I will probably be posting more about architecture when I finally get the book 'Building a Dream: The Art of Disney Architecture', which I mentioned in the above paragraph
whoops!
I just realized that our four pages don't count as our blog entries. Whoops!
Anyways, in week two, I researched the Cinderella Castle. I decided to start with one of the most iconic Disney symbols, as well as a good example of Disney's magical architecture. Check it out on my buildings page!

an introduction to my project
As you can see by my title, I plan to study the architecture at Disney World for my Genius Hour project. What is Genius Hour? Genius hour is a project that allows students to study their passions through a school project. There are only 3 rules: 1. You must start with a driving question that you can elaborate on, not just a question that can be answered with a single Google search. 2. The project has to involve research. 3. The research must be shared with the world.
Now that you know more about genius hour, let me tell you more about my project. I am going to research the unique architecture of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I will also study the architects that made the magical world possible. As a final product of this project, I hope to design a building that will go with the theme of the parks. I plan on posting the blueprints/ designs on this blog.
I encourage you to do a passion project at home, and see what you learn. You never know, you may create something that could change your life!
